The Youth Size Medium Shirt is for a Child 42-50" Tall, 42-55 pounds.  Similar to a Childs Clothing size 8.  This is very small.    This racer in photo is 35 pounds and 42" Tall. Youth Large is 50-55" 50-65 Pounds = Child size 10 The next size up would be an Adult 2X-Small that is longer in the body and Legs.
